WHAT IS CBT?


Cognitive Behavioural therapy is a form of counselling allowing the client to choose whether to talk about past or present issues, find out reasons why the client feels, behaves or thinks in inadequate ways and workout his/her own solutions with the help from the CBT therapist.



The method allows the client to talk to the therapist and choose which approach would suit him/her best. CBT is flexible, many approaches are available so you can choose which suits you best.

There are various reasons why one would seek CBT or counselling.

Each session is taylored around you and your personal needs.

After each session, the therapist will provide the client with feedback, an opportunity to record and track progress,

if the client wishes, the therapist can provide the client with exercises to do at home, learn about self-hypnosis, relaxation exercises, exercises of visualisations to change how the client perceives him/herself, change future outcomes for the client.


CBT FOR BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION



One can use CBT to change adults' and children's behaviour.

Like the name indicates, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy works with the link between behaviour and thought, aims to find the thought, triggers and reasons that lead an individual to behave in certain ways.


CBT is a purpose driven form of counselling method. This means you will talk with a therapist who is here to listen but also provide you with feedbacks after each session, help you find sub-reasons to why you feel, think or behaves in ways that seem to be out of your control.


Children's behaviour in particular can prove to be rather challenging. However, there are often triggers to a children's tantrums and misbehaviour. Helping a child think about how he/she behaves and why, identifying factors that can cause/start the behaviour can help a child change and workout new ways to approach problems.


WHAT IS NLP?


Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a method used to alter the way a person thinks, feels, perceives him/herself and others.

Like the name indicates, Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a method working on the close link between language and the thinking process.


Neuro-Linguistic Programming reflects on how language influences our thought.

NLP can be integrated to CBT to generate new outcomes,  help a client take control on how he/she thinks, feels and perceives others.

NLP can also be integrated in coaching to become a better sales person, use language to generate an outcome in others. Its purpose is not only for mental health although some interesting techniques can help a client feel better and take control of negative thinking patterns.


CBT FOR DEMENTIA AND ALZHEIMER



Whilst young people often need to reflect on their behaviour to modify inadequate behaviour, negative thinking patterns and negative emotions, older people who suffer from Dementia and Alzheimer need their surrounding to stimulate their brain in order to maintain a healthy brain, our behaviour towards older people can affect them a lot more than you think!


Children are not always ready to hear all their older parents have to say. For this reason, older people can need to talk to a detached person who cares about them and understands them. A CBT therapist should aim to find out who the old person is and once was, to behave in ways that can generate a cognition for the client, as well as offering a caring ear and helping hand to problems their surrounding are not ready  to face. Older people need to exercise their brain and a CBT therapist can offer to find complementary activities to stimulate older clients.
